Shiroishi City Council has sister city relationships with councils both
overseas and within Japan. Shiroishi is proud to have an international
sister city relationship with the City of Hurstville in Sydney, Australia.
Within Japan, Shiroishi shares a close relationship with Ebina City in
Kanagawa Prefecture, and Noboribetsu City in Hokkaido, as well as sharing
friendly relations with Shiroishi Town in Hokkaido Prefecture.
Program Objectives
The main objectives of the Sister City Program are:
- To extend the hand of friendship nationally and internationally on a person-to-person
basis, utilizing the resources of local government
- To perpetuate an understanding between people at all levels and of different
cultures
- To bring together like interest groups in each city
- To promote knowledge and understanding and extend the level of contacts
through all sectors of the community.
