Q. I have just bought a new dog. What do I need to do now?


All dogs must be registered with the council. You will need to purchase a registration sticker at a small fee. In addition, the owner must provide full details including name and address. In the event of an owner's death, please fill out a form which can be obtained from the council.

Q. What do I do when I am no longer able to keep a pet?

Every month the Shiroishi Monthly Bulletin will release information on specified dates to collect pets that can no longer be cared for in the home. Appointments can be made only on these dates between the hours of 11am to 11.30am. Please consult the department prior to this as conditions apply.

Q. Where can I borrow a baby car seat?

The Iki Iki Plaza loans child seats for a maximum of two years. A rate of ¥1,300 is payable on return for cleaning.

Q. I want to make a complaint about the restaurant that was making too much noise on the weekend. Who can I contact?

The council will make a request to the shop to keep noise down to an appropriate level for furture reference.

Q.Who do I contact for a request to install curved mirrors and/or guardrails?

Once a year, the city council undertakes major repairs and road safety improvement. The city council will focus on the demands of the Residents Association, and investigate the concerning areas.

Q. The streetlights and crime prevention lights are out of power. What can be done?

Q. There is a dangerous pothole in the road. Who shall I contact?

The city council will repair it as soon as possible, so please leave a detailed description on the location of the pothole.

Q. I would like an introduction guide to the place I am going to live in. Who can I speak to?

There are three types of public housing, please consult the Public Works Section for a consultation as conditions apply. Please note that the council does not introduce apartments or houses for private use.

Q. How do I borrow field land?

The city council owns an allotment which is available for lease to those interested. Applications will be posted annually in the March issue of the Shiroishi Monthly Bulletin.

Q. How do I get my free medical checkup?

An application for various medical check-ups will be distributed in May each year. Please mark the appropriate sections and then the council will post a medical consultation to the relevant address.

Q. I want to observe a council assembly. Do I have to make an appointment?

There is no need to register. Please provide your name, address, and age at the entrance, and enter that day. Everyone is welcome to observe freely.

Q. I want to hold an event. Can I get any assistance from the council?
 
A grant is available for individuals holding events which preserves the culture of Shiroishi and/or promotes youth development in Shiroishi.

*Criteria:
Must be a resident of Shiroishi
Must be involved in work that promotes culture, sports, or information technology in Shiroishi.

The amount of the grant is based on several factors such as the annual budget, the event's forecasted budgets etc, however up to half of the costs for the event can be awarded.

Grants are awarded semi-annually. Information will be posted in the Shirioshi Monthly Bulletin.

Q. I would like to take out a loan. How do I know if I qualify?

The Social Welfare Department can temporarily provide a loan to low income households for hospitalization or funeral service costs.

Up to 50,000yen can be loaned interest free, provided it is repaid within one year, and a gurantor must be appointed.
